Martin Luther King Jr., Hero, Leader, Legend…Cyclist?

If you wanted to experience the totality of that definition, this past weekend’s Wild West Cross, presented by Rattler Racing, was all of that and more. It had something for everyone who is a fan, or a participant: snow, mud, stairs, puddles and even the occasional dry spot.
Cyclocross brings out the kid in a lot of us. Anyone who has grew up riding a bike with their friends, remembers times when they went through mud puddles, or slushy mud, just to make a splash. Then, we moved on to Jeeps or 4-Runners so we could do the same. But along comes Cyclocross to bring it back to 2 wheels and acceptable for grownups. Yes, we get to do it again, play with our bikes in the snow and mud. But now, instead of being scolded by our mom for getting the carpet all muddy upon returning home…we get to get on a podium! How cool is that? Answer: “pretty darn.”
Ryan Muncy, of Ryan Muncy Photography was on the scene, and in the snow and mud to capture some great shots of the day. And as he has a knack for, he no only got some awesome racing pics…but some great spills and shots charged with the emotion, grit, and determination on the faces of these riders that shows what it takes to compete, or even want to compete in ‘Cross.
