Martin Luther King Jr., Hero, Leader, Legend…Cyclist?
By: Gary Robinson, Editor This coming April 4th will mark 56 years since the assassination, by a racist, of the man whose life we remember
The City of Boulder was the host of the Valmont Cross this past weekend, and it was not without great racing and some unexpected visitors…from a galaxy far, far away.
We have always known that Cross athletes were a bit different, add Halloween into the equation, they show their true colors. Valmont has always been a great challenge, as there is something on the course for everyone to conquer or fail at. But all you have to do is: Try Not, Do, or Do Not-There is no Try.
Ryan Muncy, Terri Irsik, and Brent Murphy formed the perfect “triad in the force” to capture pics from every possible perspective. So whether you just came for CycloCross, to show your allegiance to the Dark Side, or witness a Jedi on a bike…there was something there for you, and the pictures to prove it.
Enough of the Star Wars references…I promise.
There was some amazing serious racing as well. I do not know how totally serious CycloCross can be, it is way too much fun. I competed in my first cross event this past weekend, The Bandido Cross, which was way fun, but gave me a taste of what Cross is-that will be in a story to come.
All of these photographers got some great shots of “down to earth” racing. There was no mud, it was drier than the sands on Tatooine. (Sorry, I promised, didn’t I).
Check out all of their pages to see the great shots, and please, support them as well as the others of RacerShots. A few bucks for great picture is worth it. Besides, you can tell your friends it was you in the Darth Vader outfit…LOL.
